The final hours of phase one: BlueOut Knoxville

In just a few hours, phase one of BlueOut Knoxville will be complete. At midnight 8/31, nominations will be sealed and the top three blue ribbon organizations will be set for phase two. Until then, there’s still a chance to edge out the current leaders: Anna’s AngelsRandom Acts of Flowers, andSOCM (Statewide Organizing for Community Empowerment).

From a planning perspective, this event has far exceeded our expectations. More than 8000 votes have been cast, ten times what we had expected. That reflects not only the incredible support that 59 local non-profits have in the Knoxville area but the power to reach their supporters through social media.

September 1 through September 29 is phase two of BlueOut Knoxville. Tomorrow the slate will be wiped clean, and the top three vie for the $5000. There will be prizes for second and third place too; more to come. All the rules will be laid out clearly in the next day or so. Thanks for your patience.

But even if your favorite charity didn’t make the cut, the best way you can still be involved is by reserving your ticket to the big party on September 29. We’re limiting it to 200 tickets. It’s a great way to network with other local charities. Plus what’s not to love about beer, bar-b-que, and bluegrass?!

Helen Ross McNabb Center vs Diaper Love

It’s been fun watching the voting process for this BlueOut Knoxville event. Just when you think one charity has it locked up, another one rallies the troops and swoops in.

The top two are currently the Helen Ross McNabb Center and Diaper Love. Both serve families and provide essentials for moms. Yeah! Vying for that critical third place are SOCM (Social Community Empowerment) and the Florence Crittenton Agency. Both are doing great things in the community. There are 53 non-profits nominated thus far. Nominations end August 31, and the top three will advance to the next round.

Honestly, the organizers of this event–Bluegill CreativeBlue Media Boutique, and myself–have been surprised at the level of voting. We had thought 2500 votes would be sufficient, but we exceeded that last week. Right now 3281 votes have been cast, and there are still 9 days for first round voting. It’s great to see supporters getting behind their favorite causes. Remember you can vote by texting and tweeting as well, but each individual can only vote for one non-profit. Have you voted?

Blue Out Knoxville Impressive Response

Watching Blue Out Knoxville take off this week has been inspiring! In just over a week, we have received 1400 votes and 1600 visitors. People are voting by all  the different forms of social media: tweeting, texting, and by keyword to the online poll. Just when you think one non-profit has a solid lead, another will jump in with impressive numbers. It really comes down to how well a charity can reach out to its supporters and have them take action on its behalf.

I’m also enjoying learning about the different non-profits doing great work in the Knoxville area. So far, here are the top contenders, but this could change any minute:

  1. Helen Ross McNabb Center
  2. Diaper Love
  3. Florence Crittenton Agency
  4. Boys and Girls Club of TN Valley
  5. Random Acts of Flowers
  6. American Cancer Society
  7. Knoxville Opera
  8. Friends of Literacy
  9. WDVX Public Radio

You have 19 days to nominate your favorite non-profit and start getting votes for it. The top three by Sept. 1 will be in the running to earn $5000 at the big event, Blue Out Knoxville on September 29. And as a sponsor, I / Blue Frog Creations will be creating videos for the top three that they can use for their marketing needs down the road.

So don’t miss out on this opportunity to show your support for your favorite non-profit.

BlueOut Knoxville: Win $5000 for your favorite charity!

I am so excited to be part of a great event called BlueOut Knoxville! On Thursday, September 29, Knoxville will be the host for a great end of summer party celebrating all things blue: Bluegrass, Blue Moon, Pabst Blue Ribbon, BBQ and Bleu Cheese Cole Slaw. What’s the purpose of this shin-dig? To reward Knoxville’s most popular non-profit with $5000!

How do you get in on the action? First, nominate your favorite charity. It’s fast and free but nominations end August 31. Then get all your friends to vote for it by texting, tweeting, and voting by online poll. Each person can cast three votes by using all three mediums. On September 1, the top three charities with the most votes will be named the blue ribbon finalists. Between Sept. 1 and Sept. 29, you can cast more votes for $1 each–all of which will be going towards the grand winner on Sept. 29.

Right now the American Cancer Society has a strong lead, but this is anybody’s game! Don’t miss out on helping your favorite local charity earn cash! And make sure you buy your ticket before they sell out (limit: 200 for the event) for just $50 a ticket. And make sure you follow us via Facebook and Twitter. This creative marketing event is sponsored by Bluegill Creative, Blue Media Boutique, and yours truly Blue Frog Creations.

Who will you be nominating?
